Have you seen the price

After I lost 4 of my 5 hens to a trash panda (raccoon) I completely covered my coop top, bottom, and sides with 18ga HW cloth. I have not had another predator instance.

Nice pen/coop! It is good you have the mesh overlapped over the hex wire on the sides. Mesh doesn't stretch. You must be putting in a French drain?? Pop was from Franklin...the soil was never near so loamy there.

Well, we picked up the hardware cloth and the welded wire today!!! Looks good so far. My husband made a start on installing it, however, his drill is not up to this task so tomorrow we will be purchasing some sort of new heavy duty drill, which is good, because now he will not have an excuse to not do other things I want! LOL!!!!! He still thinks I am nuts for putting up the two layers, but I would rather be safe than sorry. Will add pictures when he actually gets some up.

Big thanks to everyone who helped with their advice. I appreciate it very much.

My run will be covered top to bottom with 1/4-inch hardware cloth and the apron will extend out and covered with raised planter beds. The unfinished coop will go in the upper left quad in the center of the pic and the chicken observation deck will be the only thing exposed. I also have a 12 x 20 tarp to cover most of the run, excluding the deck a 4 x 8 piece of run directly behind it.

There will be a wide gate to the left of the bench and No rodents or wild birds can get in. Those planks on the ground will be covered with deep bedding.

I think that is where I ordered mine a couple of years ago (I procrastinate and the run has been standing for about two years and just got chicks in November).

The ones I ordered were 48" x 75-ft, I believe. Hopefully, it will be enough to screen the entire enclosure.
