Since getting our ducks (2 weeks ago) we have had Chinese twice and i would quite often get duck in orange sauce or some other variety but since getting ducks i don't feel i can eat them.

has getting ducks affected your food choice??

i realise that ducks are food and bred for that purpose.

i realise that some people keep ducks for food (apart from eggs) and that is their right but has it changed your choice?

Well, I don't think I could eat MY ducks, but I do love roasted duck, and having chickens for a number of years has not lessened my taste for them either

Seriously, I have eaten duck since I got mine, and I did think about it for a minute.

Unlike most people on here my ducks are livestock not pets. They rarely get names and I got the ducks with the express purpose of eating them. bad goosedragon!

Goosedragon,
i don't have a problem with anyone eating ducks but i have changed my diet since getting my 3 "pet" ducks.
if you breed ducks to eat, thats fine with me, i'm not about to start preaching to anyone,
i think pigs are really cute but it would'nt stop me eating bacon or sausages

You guys are probably more sensible than the rest of us

I could eat them if I raised either chickens or ducks for the express purpose of using them for food, but it's different with the ones I have now with names, eating treats from my hand, etc.

I wondered if I would have any trouble eating chicken after getting my baby chicks, but no problems so far, although we've completely sworn off any but cage-free eggs (ours aren't laying yet).

I don't have ducks, but don't think I could ever give up duck. Best thing next to beef!

Kcard,
i think thats the difference, if you're gonna eat it, don't give it a name.

farmers aint stoopid, are they
