Having chicks shipped to post office

Currently sitting on hold with USPS trying to inquire about picking up live animals so I figured it'd be worth a shot to ask y'all and save my self the next 30 min...

I live in a rural area and have a p.o box at my local post office in town. My dilemma is that my SO and I share a vehicle and he gets home after the post office closes on the weekdays. Would I be able to have chicks shipped to the post office in the city he works instead?

I don't know of any reason that can't be done. Anytime I have chicks shipped to me they are held at the main post office and not my local post office. They call me and I go pick them up directly from the post office and it usually occurs outside of their normal open hours. I typically have to enter from the back of the building. There is a buzzer and someone lets me in to get the chicks.

So does the company you order from determine the post office they arrive at or is it just automatically the main post office as in the one in the capital of the county you live in?

When you give the address that you want it shipped to, you can have it held at any of the post offices that it would normally pass through. My main post office here is centrally located in the state. I know of people who live in the northern part of the state who have had their chicks held for pick up at this post office so they could get them a day early and save the chicks hundreds of miles of travel in unknown conditions such as the unheated area of a postal truck. This post office is part of the route because Denver is the hub and we are midway between Denver and the northern border.
