I'd go with chick myself, I don't have a good "plan" for cockerels from hatching and have to hope the sexers at the hatchery are good.

Dare I ask what happened to the other 6 chicks I see in the brooder video?

Greetings and welcome to BYC! So glad you joined us. Because I'm old and impatient, I'd say go with local sourced pullets. Easier/faster to integrate as well. Sounds like you lead a full, challenging, and busy life! There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads, which you obviously know... Browse around and see what new & interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

Oh, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. Old folks like me will never remember & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. 'Closed' flock here also and being bantams that are broody most of the time I prefer to purchase fertile eggs [no roosters allowed] and hatch here.
