My dh also found out that he likes chickens after he finally agreed to get some a few years ago. Now we just moved to the country and we have 10 adult chickens and about 30 chicks on the brooder!!! And he didn't say anything negative when I said I was considering getting some more eggs for some other breeds I was interested in. He only said I was going to have to start selling eggs next year b/c we'll have way too many for our family. That was the plan anyway, but it's nice to have support! lol

Maybe you should just make sure you get a little roo so you can have random chicks just show up down the road... hidden nest. Get a breed that goes broody and tell him you HAVE to get chicks to break her... cuz you don't get eggs when she is broody!
