he/she?? :)

No, we arent supposed to in city limits. I will be devastated!! We have gotten this chicken back to good health and finally eating scratch out of our hands! Here is another pic i just took. Plesase say Hen!!! lol

the only reason I say that is in that picture it seems to have hackle feathers. point feathers on the back=rooster. round feathers on the back= hens. it might just be the different lighting
Very true...you can't really tell in the first pic, but in that second when he is right beside what is obviously a hen you can see his longer prettier curved feathers.

yeah...he's a rooster. see how his feathers are like a feather cape, they are all flowy and what not? Rooster trait.

SAD! But, good to know the other two are probably younger also. We have had them for 6 wks and NO EGGS! Also lots and lots of feathers in coop so maybe molting??

Chickens lose a lot of feathers anyway, but they also drop more if they have parasites, or are molting, or are having awkward chicken relations. Lol. So...might be molting...but it's kind of young isn't it? Aren't chickens usually like a year old before they have a moult? Or am I way off and just pulling that out of the air? I get confused sometimes, but he is going to be very pretty but he does look like a young rooster. I have a couple of small young roosters that look very similar, but they are small and that guy is big...but he is a he. Look at the differences between the 2 of them, I wasn't sure first, but when I saw him next to the hen, it was easy to see. Unless he is a really old hen...they get to look pretty roostery, but they still won't have hackle feathers. But their tails fill in more like roosters tails are...but that chicken looks like a boy to me...maybe he'll be slow to crow, or he'll lay an egg...we'll see.

Here is how much they have grown in 5 wks.

Hoping the roo stays sweet and quiet..My kids are impatiently awaiting a surprise egg!
