Thankfully we all have cell phones. I know my DH wouldn't dare do this.... he calls me on anything questionable. Communication is half the battle between the sexes.... I hope you get your birds back... or something even better in exchange. For sure!
He gave the guy a call around noon today and left a very nice message explaining what happened, and would it be okay to buy two chicks back, we will replace them next hatch, etc. He had stipulated when the guy got here that the feather footed one was off limits and I can only assume the guy took that one by accident, so I'm really hoping he will be reasonable and allow us to take that one and my other favourite back.
It's now almost 8pm and we haven't heard back, so I think we will give him another call. Fingers are crossed, I really hope the guy does the nice thing but I am just preparing for the next hatch and hoping for the best. We are making another coop this week and getting more birds so I am pretty excited about that.

I have 3 kids and they can get attached to a caterpiller in 20 minutes and cry when it dies! Yes, the children WILL care! The children hand-picked their pets (which is probably how the favorite got taken) they will be attached to them already.
To the OP this really stinks for you and I would be furious at DH if he did this. However, you have to stick yourself in the buyers position for a second. He answered the ad for pre-order. Then he got a call that said he could have them now. When he arrived he asked if he could buy 6 instead of 3 and was told YES. He let his kids pick them, so he probably didn't pick the best ones on purpose. More then likely the kids just wanted the prettiest ones, or one of each color. That's how my daughter picked her chicks. I believe an adult would give you your chicks back.....but being as the kids picked them out......
