My husband and I recently joked about how our newest hen has a look in her eyes that says- "I'm the boss." We now refer to her as the Head Beak In Charge.

I thought it would be interesting to post and ask for other to share videos and photos of their own leader hens or roosters- someone that commands the flock, has a stern yet maybe mothering nature. A chicken who protects, or who may be a little grumpy. Who do you consider the leader of your flock? Any poultry welcome! Tell us who they are, what breed, age, and maybe a little about their personality!

Big Red- 3 year old Rhode Island Red hen who is now Head Beak In Charge. She loves attention, and clucks for you to come visit any time you're nearby. Does not like the exsisting hen in charge, but they only exchange words. She has a very commanding personality and look in her eye. We love her!

I consider these two as the boss!
Silverback and crafty are allways first at the food and water and always take the highest perch.
There is little if not no squabbling anywhere in the flock when they are around.
I think they are about 1 year old but I am not sure.
Their quite tame and kind but do not hesitate to deliver a sharp peck if someone in there flock is misbehaving:p.
That's it I think!:)
Oh also a pic!!!I almost forgot

This is Ruby.. my RIR.. she is the “head beak in charge” (I love that and will be using)... she keeps everyone in line but in a very calm and caring way.. she is not a bully! She is very sweet.. she is 10 months old..
