I had this 16 week old chicken.
Two days back when I checked him,he was gasping ,there was colourless mucus like liquid droping from his mouth and his neck was twisted.

[ My other chick (he is elder than him by 5 weeks) had shown same symptom(gasping and colourless liquid on beak only) thrice & at each incidence I gave him vitamin E in olive oil & he got well.]

when I checked his mouth I also saw froth,so I thought it would be better if i first clear his throat by giving him some water. and I fed him water (about 5-8ml) with a dropper. While I was trying to feed him more water, food from crop started coming out of his mouth and he closed his eyes never to open again .

I am feeling guilty as I think my actions may have killed him.

What could be the reason for such sudden death??? I am getting tears in my eyes whenever i think of him.

PS: I has heard him sneeze a few days before his death.

I am attaching his photo so that you may get a clear picture of position of legs etc.

Thanks in advance,he was such a lovely pet .

My guess would be he choked. I recommend never force feeding birds even though it's recommended by some. It's too easy for them to aspirate and die. Sorry you lost him.

I know by administering water I may have choked him but why was he gasping and why there was froth in his mouth in the first place?

He may have been choking on something before you stepped in, though a bent neck and frothing could be a seizure, or even a vitamin deficiency. The only way to know for sure is to have a necropsy done, otherwise everything else is guessing unfortunately.
