Heartbroken duck

I would love to know how this story ends. I had two ducks for 2 years & this week we lost one. Our lone duck cries all day looking for her sister. It is awful.
I have the same question about getting her a new friend. Will she bond with a new duck? Or was it because they were raised together & a new one won't help her grief? It is very sad. We have chickens but they offer no comfort to her at all.

Everyone is going to say the same thing, she needs a friend and as quick as you can get her one. They do much better with a friend than alone and even more so if grieving. So find her another duck. Check Craigslist or Flea markets or even duck rescues in your area. Hopefully you'll find a duck soon. and sorry for your loss

I know you've heard it already but she needs a friend! I was in a similar situation just a couple of months ago. I thought maybe she would do okay with her chicken friends but she really needed a duck friend! I found a female pekin and she's doing so much better! Good luck in finding a friend for Fifi! I'm sorry for your loss, I know how you feel!

Sorry to hear about your loss. Yes, you need to find a companion for your duck. I put two ducks together that came from separate areas of the State, and they are best buds now. For them it didn't take any time to bond, but for others it might take a day or two. In the end they will most likely enjoy each others company.
