Heartbroken need advice, please!(long post,sorry)

This is a civil case. You can go to the DA and file papers. I know how you feel we have neighbors like that beside us and behind us and they work together against us.

I am sorry to hear about this but, I would file papers and take it to court and ask for your birds back. They are YOUR animals not theirs. Put your foot down and let them know that they aren;t going to treat you or your birds this way. :thun

But, you need to do this NOW. Also, see if your neighbor, that witnessed what they did, will go to court with you.

Hope to hear a positive post in the near future.

I will send you blessings, it's better than luck.

brewmiss...
just checked out that web site and called them they said they only do livestock and guineas are not considered livestock. Explained the situation and they said it would have to be handled through civil court. Thank you so much for trying.

I know that this is probably getting hard to deal with. But you really need to check with Animal Control if nothing else. I had to call them the other day to find out what my rights were as a homeowner when other peoples animals come onto our property.
The reason I did this is because they have a bunch of goats and they let them out to wander and then they leave. Last year I chased them out of our garden, which is a food source for us, and the owner got mad at me.
But, this is for you, don't dare sit back and let them get by with theft. That is just wrong. You need to stay calm and call and see what can be done about someone taking you animal.
Just a note...this is sort of funny.....We own a coppernose beagle and the neighbors that own the goats said our beagle, which is kept in a pen, and whose legs are only about 4 inches long, anywho you get the picture, they said he climbed a 6' stack of cinder blocks and stole there fried chicken dinner.
I know how you feel but don't give up. You will eventually get through to the right person.
Our prayers are with you.

Oh, dear, I'm SO sorry you're having to deal with all of this! :aww It not only sounds like your neighbors need a straight jacket and padded room, but so do those working in your county! I'd be calling Mayors, State Reps, the Governer, letting them all know what a poor job those employed by the peoples tax dollars are doing. Like many have mentioned, I wouldn't hesitate to steal them back. Whether wire cutters be used or something more serious. Keep records of times and dates, conversations, get written reports from the neighbors who've witnessed... also, call the Humane Society about the donkey if she's also mistreating it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and hope all ends up in your favor. God bless you!

If they aren't livestock then they're considered pets (and hence, "property"), so the sheriff of nottingham and his goons ought to get your stolen pets back!

One of the bad things about Oklahoma... if you aren't in the city, there is no law.

If they are penned up now, why not call the police again and tell them they cant come home as the owners are taking measure to keep them in. Squeky wheel---call everyday......
again...... and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....and again.....

No need to make them come out each time--and of course we dont want to take our police away from true emergencies, but a phone call every hour or so might make them take you seriously. Or at least go back over there to check things out again. They did break the law and they are your birds.........

I've done the same type of thing, but not to the police. I told the person, " I'm a stay at home mom with a sick kid, I can call you every 15 minutes if I need too." They got me what I needed in no time.

Oh! hey! what about calling the local paper or a letter to the editor about the "help" the police have given you?

Or, here's a good one, see if you can bribe one of the younger kids to bring them back!

What if you called the police and said "I'm going to go over and get my stolen birds, but I'm afraid the confrontation will become violent"?

Knowing that's on the dispatcher's tape may force their hand.
