Heartbroken need advice, please!(long post,sorry)

I wish you all the luck in getting your guineas back. If only I had some guineas to loan out, I would but I only have 4 guinea hens and they each laid an egg today. I don't dare traumatize them now.

You should post this link in the BYC Okies section & see if anyone local has some guineas to loan. I'm sure a guinea hen or two calling them would get them to come home. I hope you can go to the auction on Saturday. Surely there will be some there to buy ... also, you could ask other Okies & see if they're going to the other auctions. Good luck, and I hope to see you & your dh at the auction on Saturday!

I know! I'm going to see if I can figure out how to link your post to the BYC Okies post to see if anyone can loan a guinea. I'm just a bit computer challenged, but willing to try!

Unfortunately we are out here whre there is NO animal control of any sort. Only a sherriff's dept. that is severely understaffed and over worked. I have been extremely hard on them, but to their defense at this point they do not have a case because "technically the birds can fly out if they so choose." Not having any sort of animal control in the country does become quite taxing, i.e. the rescued dogs that we are now feeding while trying to find them homes, the animals that get dumped out here, etc.

On a good note, my friend that owns the feed store, called to check on me this afternoon and to let me know that the warrant for the checks will be issued sometime next week.

Also I came up with another thought, see what you all think.

What if I "sold " the birds to someone else, gave them a bill of sale, and then they could go and retreive the birds. It would have to be someone that they don't know and that does not live around here and they would have to really want the birds. But then that would get the birds away from danger and in a good home and I would not have to worry about this being an ongoing problem. I mean really the more I think about it, even if I pen them up for two months and everything else they will just run them up into their pen again and again. Since my chickens have a huge run, I don't ever have to worry about this with them and Blue won't let anyone but me and DH near the chicken pen (he is penned right by the coop for that reason).

And if you think this is a good idea, does anyone local need a couple of adult guineas for a good price? LOL

Let me know what you all think, please.

I know you really love the birds and if it were me, I would find some way to keep them. If you can build a covered run with a lock on the gate...not sure if this would work for you, just a suggestion.

I wouldnt get anyone else caught up in it.

I would let the police know that they CANT get out. Say you have seen them try. Let them know they are building a pen for them. I wouldnt give up on teh police situation. THey have your bird locked up, you have a receipt for them. Period.

Call the police and say "I understand you can't help me, but who would your superior be? I just want to knowwhere to go next?:

I wouldnt give up on this. THey are your birds. Dont let the neighbors be in control of your pets and their fate.

Im in North Carolina and we have a news station WRAL and they have something called 5(thats their channel) on Your Side and they deal with problems like these that authorities wont take care of. The idea for calling your local newspaper editor/newstation is REALLY worth a try. You should really call someone about her warrant(s) and animal abuse. And I am soooooo for cutting the fence! I wish I was a cop I would fly there in my uniform and get your animals back! I would even fake it, if I lived there, but this does blow my mind that they can do this and get by with it!

I also live in the country, that is acutally growing up now, but the people born and raised here would not put up with that. If the cops did not help they would definitly steal their birds back, cut the fence, and make life for that family awful! They do no play when it comes to their livestock here.

Have you gone in person to the police station, I would go and refuse to leave until someone went with me and got my birds back. I cnat believe you still have the receipt and they arent budging!

Exactly--your birds, your property. You dont by a car and leave it at your neighbors.

I think the police are full of it here. I wouldnt let that happen.

Steal a police car and see what they do. say to them "Its not penned up in my garage and it will go back to the station when it wants to."

I wish I could hold on to them for you while you try to get them kicked out of town or make there life miserable where they wont touch your birds ever again.
