Heartbroken need advice, please!(long post,sorry)

I posted that I found a stray guinea in my yard.... but I can assure you that I am not the one referred to... I live in Calvin which is not even close to Lexington.... And if I knew anyone that had guineas near me I would call them right away and return their animal.... Believe me I understand about being attached to animals.....

I really hate people like your neighbors... they're doing it to be mean now and they're scaring those poor babies...

I hope they screw up and the babies get out, or that they do pen them up and the mean ole' lady get's her due (& her "boys" too!)!

I'm not sure I read every detail in this post, so forgive me if I'm duplicating responses, but I read that adult guineas often wander away. If I bought adults I would keep them penned up for a month before I let them go, and once they free-range I would make sure to feed them morning and night regularly, so they know where home is. Babies will associate your place more with home than adults.
Hope this all works out.

I am new to this and waas misinformed about the length of time to pen them up. I was told to pen them up for a couple of days and then let one out, but keep the other penned. this is exactly what I did. then I turned the other out after a full day and night.

The kids actually ran them into their pen. One of my other neighbors witnessed this, but did not realize they were mine. She told me this when county came out and they still would do nothing.

They outright stole my birds. Yes I was stupid for listening to the advice of someone that obviously did not know what they were talking about. I should have done more research on here. But that does not excuse the fact that she is knowingly stealing my birds and my local sherriff's dept. will not do anything about it.

Update...

When DH came home Michael and Sonny ran out to the fence. So he stopped to try to coax them over they tried several times but keep hitting the fence where it is folded over. When he went on to keep them from hurting them selves they cased him down the fence!

Maybe there is still hope! I am praying that they will figure out howto get over that darn fence and come home. I will spend another night on the porch hoping they make it home.

I even got two containers of juicy night crawlers for them when they get home!

I am now torn between rather to be cruel and pen them up permanantly or to take them to the sale when and if I ever get them back. I know this sounds crazy and it will kill me to sell them but I will never be able to keep her from stealing them again.

So here is what I need opinions on(if I ever get them back):
Do I pen them up and make them miserable to keep them from suffering at the hands of her?

Or do I love them enough to sell them to someone where this won't happen?

I do have my babies and I have done tons more research and can train them to come to the coop to roost every night. That is after they are old enough to be let out again.

Please help as I am very torn as to what to do! You all are so full of wonderful advice and I value each and every one of you!

This my own opinion only so please don't take it wrong. I know nothing about gunieas (sp?) but I've been following this thread and I do know this.

I'd go to hell before I'd let a neighbor like that cause me to give up something I was passionate about, nor would I sell my passion because of an messed up neighbor like her.

What I would do if I got them back would be to lock them up for a month or so like the other poster said until they knew where home was. If that didn't work, I'd search out other methods before I would allow someone to control me like that. I'm so sorry that you are having to even consider those options because of your hag of a neighbor. She needs her @$$ kicked and hard!

Sorry everyone but this will be my last post for a little while. We have circuation (as in possible tornado) headed right at us. So I will post as soon as I can. Like I needed this today!

I don't raise guineas (yet) and I think that if you love your birds you should keep them. If my birds were stolen and I got them back I would just keep a close eye on them. good luck!!!! I hope you get them back
