Heartbroken need advice, please!(long post,sorry)

This makes me appreciate my neighbors.

Can you bend up the bottom of their fence to let them out? Personally, I wouldn't be above using wire cutters.

wow.. what kind fo fence do they ahve? is ti possible to sneak over teher and cut a hoel in ti or knockl it down?!?!
our neighbord ahtes our animals.. but he doenst take any of them.. he doenst dare.. i would push his vehicle down teh road into a pond or river or something..

They can't be home all the time, sounds like they know they have you buffaloed though. Go let them out. If you aren't comfortable go to small claims court but do it quickly because if they get the idea you might they might just kill your birds to be mean and further intimidate you. From the sound of it they figure since you shot their dog, you owe them the birds. You can't reason with people like that.

Wow the nerve of some people, I sure hope you can get your guinea's back. I had such a hard time getting any to stay around here, but, finally I have ten and just love having them around. Good Luck to you!!!!!

Make sure you mark all your birds with leg bands or wing bands or something like that so that the ids are readily visible or available should any other birds "rehome". The officers may also feel that there is no way to "prove" that those are your birds in court and hesitate to move forward because of this lack of proof. If your birds are banded or toe punched, then it would be hard to say they are not yours. Does that make sense?

Praying for safety for you in the twister stuff :| maybe a big gust of wind will just knock those guineas right over to your yard again...... I would so try and get them back and lock um up for a few weeks , mine stayed after that much lock up time..........do not let this neighbor win........... spread feed, sing.get another guinea to call them home......keep trying, make them wonder what you are up to girl......stealing is just wrong wrong...do what you need to do..... good luck....

I registered just to post on this thread.

I hope the storm is not serious.

Have you contacted your local UC Ag extention or Ag Commissioner? They would know who you could contact above the Capt. Not sure if KS is the same, but in CA, the Ag Commissioner answers to the county board of supervisors who are elected officials and who are the bosses of the county services, including the sheriff's office. Livestock theft is a serious crime and if the sheriff is not doing his job then that has larger implications. If that doesn't work... call the State Ag office. There is also Federal Ag Officials If they find out that the county commissioners are not enforcing livestock theft laws... in an election year... that is not good, throw your vote around!

for county ag extension offices
link for a directory of Kansas Dept of Ag department including your senators. I'd start with the legal department on page 1.
I hope you get your birds back soon!
