What is the difference in a heat bulb and an infrared bulb or are they the same thing? All the red bulbs I look at say infrared and we wanted to use red this year.

Infared puts out red light and heat. All colors disturb people and animals sleep except for the color red. Infared won't disturb chicks and it will heat them better. I'm not exactly sure what the difference is but I know that you should definitely go with the infared.

I read that normal heat bulbs just put out heat but infrared bulbs put out red light, heat and it radiates wavelength , they are also more beneficial.

Anything that emits heat is infrared, including the heat coming off your body. Some animals, including your chickens, can see the infrared light waves radiating off your body as well as other warm objects. Chickens can see ultraviolet, too, and we humans can't. So, tell me who's smarter now.

An ordinary 100 watt incandescent light bulb will give off infrared light waves even though you don't see the red part of it. Your chickens do, though. Fascinating, huh?

The red heat lamp has red glass over it, which isn't really the infrared, which is too far down toward the end of the light spectrum for human eyes to see.
