Heat lamp

It’s going to be 39 where we are tonight. My chicks are in our garage and have a heating table but lately they just sit on top instead of under it. I put up a head lamp to knock the chill. (Thermometer in their area says 60) it’s covering just half of the container so there’s another side they can get out of the heat. Is this a good plan or should I put the heat plate/table back in instead?

Assuming the chicks are a couple weeks old or more, it's unnecessary to provide extra heat. The heat plate (I assume that's what you mean by table) is enough to provide the heat they need.
