Heated water buckets

yep... I DIY my own heaters with cookie tins too. They work great to set the drinkers on but I've often though about putting an element into one pool for them (in the summer they have 12 pools!)

How do you secure it? i have no doubts mine would be climbing in it

and then take the entire thing down.

FYI - for those who have had problems with theirs - the outside temperature has to be at a certain degree before they will start to work

I've seen those buckets but the fine print says don't use with an extention cord, and I don't have power out to the duck pen. Anyone deal with that problem?

yeah - I think once my 2 baby pools crack this winter, duckies are going to have to walk the 40 yards to the real ponds. If my son and I really did manage to catch all the snapping turtles, I will be euphoric!

the heated buckets i just got from TSC I looked after reading your post and didn't see anything that says not to use an extension cord. I haved use outdoor extension cords with mine for about 3 years now, I use duck[duct tape] around where the cord attaches to the plug as extra protection.

I'll see if I can get some pics of putting one together posted. Right now all I have is this one of the heater in action:
