Heated water dish (or other methods) reviews wanted!

I

I also ferment my feed so also got a heated dog bowl for that purpose. It also has a temp sensor and has a wider base so even when my girls stand on the edge it does NOT tip.

both work quite nicely for me

I just got this bowl and an outlet that turns on/off depending on outside temps from Amazon. Thank you for posting, I think my upcoming winter just got easier (at least as far as taking care of the chickens go)!

The other link is from before the change to the new system.

I really like the write up but I suspect the author did not know that there is a brand of vertical nipple that does not leak. for me, this tips the scale in favor of VN's. if you look closely at various brands of VN's, you will see slight variations in machining, sometimes a stamp with the manufacturer's name. they all look about the same but have dramatic variations in performance consistency. I was so impressed with this one that I called the manufacturer and picked his brain in preparation for winter. the conversation was very illuminating. he gave me a recommendation for a heater that he says is also very reliable. here is the water: http://www.atwoods.com/poultry-feeders-watering/cheery-chicks-chicken-kooler-35-gallon.htm
You can fill it in place, it has UV filtering plastic, so no algae and I have found the ability to see through the sides very handy for monitoring water level.

here is the heater I'm going with that he recommended: https://www.amazon.com/Allied-Preci...-fkmr0&keywords=heated+bucket+poultry+drinker
