Heated Waterer opinions?

For four chickens, I would buy the Premier 1 heated nipple bucket. $54, but just plug it in and go.

Hi all!

I am a new chicken owner and new to the BYC community. Today, our waterer froze and I was left breaking up the ice this afternoon. Since this is only the beginning of the winter I know this will only get worse. I know there are heated waterers but there are so many types and I´m not sure what is best?

What waterers do you guys all use and do you like them? (We have a small coop with 4 EE hens)

This has worked well for me and uses the same waterer year round. Under $20

Keep submerged although I believe it has a built in safety. I plug into a Thermo Cube which comes on at 35° and shuts off at 45°

problem is i can't get electricity in there because the coop is on the other side of the property and i don't have any outlets to that side of the house.

What about a nice little solar set-up?

i have solar lights on the outside to deter predators. do you have something in mind?

If you have a true solar setup with solar panels and good battery and all, you could likely power a heated dog bowl, that uses 25-60 watts, thru the night, then charge during the day. Depending on your setup.
