Heavy Bloom?

Thank you! I was told that by the breeder. However, if the bloom is invisible how can it affect the colour of the egg?

It seems to have a slightly milky tint to it, so I think that's how it can affect color.

If eggs have a really heavy or tacky bloom they can even stick to the hen's butt until it dries enough to fall off.

Yes.... ..or 'glue' nest bedding to the egg.
Have also gathered eggs that still have a 'drip' on them, that can take long time to dry.

Yup, I get both of those. My FBCM has heavy bloom and there's always bedding stuck to her eggs, but at least no more "eggs on the run" as I trim down her butt fluff to minimize that.

My EEs get occasional excess bloom drops here and there (which leaves off color spots on the eggs) and unfortunately sometimes I grab the eggs too quickly after laying and stick my finger right on it. Feels like runny mucus.

The bloom is not always invisible. You can often see a bloom on a chicken that lays with heavy blooms. That’s what will take an olive egg to a gray etc etc. Some people are trying to breed heavy blooms bc it creates more unusual colors in the egg basic. It’s like a camera filter on top of your egg

Can someone please help me understand what a heavy bloom is? I incubated a ‘heavy bloom egg’ and the hen is currently laying gorgeous pink eggs- please see photo attached. I have found some literature about the bloom but very little about a heavy bloom.
