Hedemora Thread

I got my first Hedemora egg yesterday at 19 weeks and 3 days. It was 33g or 1 1/8 oz, I think that qualifies as USDA Pee Wee. I'm not kidding, there's really such a class.

Hello all. Anyone in the Colorado Springs vicinity interested in a couple of Hedemora cockerels? I have several more than I need. All have black silkied feathers.

Nearly 6-week-old cockerel:

Fuzzy birchen. I'd post a video of my other cockerel crowing but I cannot yet figure out how.

Say they are exposed to a week of 90 degree temperatures then they have a very good chance of heat stroke. From my experience as far as being cold hardy they are like any other chicken until they reach full maturity when all of their down and feathers have grown in. Their feathers grow in very thick especially the silkies; they call them woolies in Sweeden because they feel like a soft cushiony wool. I have had to trim their under feathers to give them relief but since then I have moved their coop next to the woods and they free range daily so they can dig holes in the woods to keep cool if needed, they love the woods ( its good cover from our hawks and I dont have other predator problems). I provide fans if I keep them penned but I do the same for my other breeds as well. I am in a zone 6a.

Anyone have any hedemora hens for sale? Ideally some lighter colored ones, but I'm not fussy.

Willing to buy but also willing to trade for Isbars

I am in Indiana - I have a juvenile pair I might be willing to part with. A white cockerel and a splash pullet. They are around 16 weeks old I believe. I wouldn't want to ship them though, they would be pick up only.
