Hi I am in Wales, UK and have three lovely warrens. I got them for the eggs and have stayed for the personalities.
I keep them in an Omlet Egglu with a 2m run attached but during the day they come out and roam around my enclosed garden. Because they’re all red I named them Scarlett, Ginger and Pinky. They’re all pretty sociable, with Scarlett being the boss. She went through four months of broody terrorism but has calmed down again and is the most interactive. Ginger is a bit arm’s length and until recently Pinky had been the chatty one.
I will post this in another thread but in case you can help, Pinky started puffing up and her vent was dirty. Her abdomen also became very red, swollen and hard. I checked for an egg inside but couldn’t feel one although she was swollen very tight. She hasn’t been laying for a good few months now although she’s only about two. Her comb is still red and she’s eating and drinking fine. She will run over when called but otherwise is not as active as usual. Searched online and gave her daily warm baths with Epsom salts, scrambled egg with cinnamon, water with honey and lemon and treated her with human thrush suppository. She is definitely improved but still her posture is one of discomfort. See pic - Pinky on the left. Is there anything else I could do? Should I be giving her daily suppositories or waiting for the first one to finish working? Thank you.
