Hello! and welcome to the OEGB thread.

from outside sources ofcourse... that means lots of breeding to get back type... and its recessive...

there are only two sources in the USA I believe have that gene...

Cream Legbars(I believe they are pressent in the USA)

CJR from Montana has lemon millefleur Dutch but I don´t know if he post in this forum or not...

other ways are also possible, if one is able to segregate dominant Dilute(Di) from some Buff breeds(most believed to be pressent on Buff Minorcas and Buff cochins) but Nobody I Know(except me) is working on such a daunting task....

Edit..

cream light brown dutch are also pressent in the US....

this is how they look, I guess they are closer in looks to OEG´s than Leghbars...

That Cream light Brown dutch would actually work out quite well, and adding Dutch to OE and breeding back for proper OE isn't nearly as bad as Dutch have been used with OE before. is there anyway to identify the Cream based golden rather then the S/s gold from each other in appearance or distingwishig traits?
I assume the S/s is replaced with Ig/Ig, that is odd that it woul dhave no effect on thehen color or does it?

Recessive Cream should have an even Golden color in hackle and saddle feathers,(shoulders could be a shade darker,), now On Golden(S/s+) the Shoulders are much darker in shades, sadle feathers sometimes are darker in shade also, the Wing bay color sometimes tend to be almost white in color(sometimes white) so Cream(Ig) will give you a nicer all around Golden color

here a pic of a Golden OEG Bantan

and here the True Difference..

Cream based Goldens are based on Gold(s+/s+) so I would stay away from any Silver cock or suspected hen just to make sure I only use Gold base birds to start the progect..

in Golden OEG Sex linked Silver is used, hens can only have one copy of that sex linked color, so they can only be Gold (s+/-) or Silver (S/-) Golden Based Birds based on Autosomal Ig(not sex linked) are based on Gold so hens can be s+/- so they will look Cream also...

OK, so a little reading on the subject and it does alter the hackle color of the hen, no big deal in my mind as the US standard for GDW calls for a Silver Duckwing hen and one is really only breeding for the males anyway it would be feasable to introduce the cream to OE in your opinion would the BB red or Silver Duckwing be the most logical choice? I would think BB as they have th ebest size and type to offer as well as the greatest ability to identify teh cream colored offspring in the f2 and later generations.

Cream based Goldens are based on Gold(s+/s+) so I would stay away from any Silver cock or suspected hen just to make sure I only use Gold base birds to start the progect.

So they are s+/s+ wild type gold with Ig acting to dilute the wild type gold, no a BB red is making more sense and the opportunity to see the cream color even more realizable while getting back to a good OE, the hens would be good breeders only and should never be seen by others but thats Ok with me.
So a simple cross / select for size and type in F1 produce a few hundred, select for color size and type cull teh rest and continue 3-4 generations with less than a 5% retention should be doable.

I you plan on showing Cream based Golden as sex linked Golden(I bet you´ll get first place) you can always grab a generic silver based hen and just throw it there with the cream boy and the Judge will not even pay attention to her as he would be amazed on how good this ¨Golden¨boy looks like....

Black Breasted Red is the ONLY way to go...

For the record, CJR is a woman and her name is Jean. She also writes a monthly column in the Poultry Press.
She can't ship from Montana

Sorry I forgot about that... she actully post on the Classroom at the coop also...

If I lived in the USA. I would not mind driving to Montana to get me some of them Cream....

The one on the left was our little roo, we loved him very much...he was so sweet and good to his girls...we would carry him in our arms around the yard all the time....got up one morning to let everyone out of the coop and he was dead...I think the big rooster killed him but I am not sure....there were no feathers anywhere
