Well, they are only 1 month old and weren't too fond of me almost climbing into their cage to get pictures. LOL.

here's some pretty cool shots... the blue isn't violent at all, unless another one starts it... but the fawn is younger, and feels like he has something to prove... they really didn't hit eachother... so none of them were injured...

i guess the blue hen didn't like the way the fawn dances... LOL...

these guys hatched two days ago... mostly self blue, fawns, blues, black, and a mille fleur OEGB... and 5 shamo chicks too...

Question for all of you that breed....

I was at a youth show on Monday, we took our two OEGB cockerels. The judge was really sweet, since it was a youth show, he didn't "judge" them as in giving out awards, but rather talked to the kids about their birds, point out their good points, and their flaws...

One of my boys, he thought was really nice, but the other he criticized the little tail fluff (white feathers), saying it was called a "break" in the back. I'm wondering if in your experience, cockerels will grow out of this condition? He certainly isn't squirrel tailed, or even close. He was a bit stressed there, it was his first show. He is barely 6 months old.

well... so far the birds that i see with a white tuft at a very young age means that it's just going to get bigger... he probably meant that there's a break in the back because his tail feather just shoots up... give him a little more time... it might fill up a bit more... has he had any mites lately...? sometimes mites make them pluck out some feathers and make their backs/tails look sharp and straight...

no, no mites, but these are the birds a while ago I asked about their constant molting. Ya'll told me it was just what they do when they are young! I think I might start looking for a new food for these fellows. Any recommendations?

try giving them more BOSS, and get some koi fish pellets... they're both high in oils to help with feather development and shine...
