Hey! So far this seems to be a really cool thread but I have a question. Sorry if this has been asked before but if you cross a BBR with another BBR will you get a BBR? And likewise for self blues, blues, and blacks? The reason being is that someone with these varieties gave me an OEGB egg to hatch out and I'm just wondering if I will get a pure color. I don't care about show quality I just want to know. Thanks!
BB reds,Self Blues, and true blacks, will all breed true.Blue however does not.You will hatch Blue,Black and Splash from a blue/blue mating. Sometimes on the other colors you have a slight chance of having an off color pop out.Blacks are the main 'off' color of some non true breeding colors such as blue and chocolate. So you might by chance end up with a bird who has a "colored" past (parents) and the color pops up later on. Some of the Opals, for example, came from black birds.
