So six years? quite an attachment we get to our feathered friends, right?Hello! I've been keeping chickens in my back yard for 6 years now. I have 7 chickens: 1 Gold Laced Wyandotte, 2 Barred Rocks, 1 Black Star, 1 Production Red, and 2 that look like Golden Comets or some kind of red sex link (no roosters - city ordinance). I've been a member for several years, yet failed to introduce myself before now, it seems. I've come here whenever I have questions and usually find answers from others who have posted the same questions that I have.
Just brought in 3 young hens, who are very friendly and sweet. They are quarantined in their new pen away from our existing 4, and are being treated for worms. They are otherwise healthy & beautiful.
I love raising chickens for their quirky personalities, their cuteness, and, of course, the EGGS, so much better than any store bought.
I have a husband, 3 grown children & 2 grandkids who appreciate the fresh eggs =). And we have a cat. I have degrees in music & psychology, I've worked at the library, and as a student group tutoring mentor for middle & high school students. Besides raising chickens, I sing & play recorder, keep a garden - can, & preserve - and I enjoy knitting & crochet.View attachment 2051721View attachment 2051725View attachment 2051740View attachment 2051743View attachment 2051748

Loved your intro and photos, nice setup
Awe, thanks! She is the oldest, only surviving one of the original four, 6 years old. She has this low pitched, contralto voice, sounds like she says this long drawn out, "uhhhh huhhh" as she inspects my work cleaning the chicken run. She has a pea comb that I like to call her "raspberry beret." Oh yeah, and she crows sometimes to get my attention, usually if I'm late to bring out some snacks.Welcome to BYC, this is a great forum. nice to meet you. I love your golden laced Wyandotte
Yep, six years. I really enjoy it, though it is a time commitment, and a little hard to travel. They are fun, and while we're supposed to be doing the "social distancing" because of covid 19, they keep me company. Ha!So six years? quite an attachment we get to our feathered friends, right?
