Hello from Australia! I have eggs and not much idea what to do!

Look what is happening in my casserole dish!!

Have you got a brooder set up with heat lamp going to keep it at least 85* you have to be so careful opening the lid because any humidity drop can cause the membrane to shrink wrap the duckling. I'll let someone else tell you if it's okay since I don't use bators or casserole dishes. lol

Welcome to the world... Percy!

He is really active! He keeps pecking the towel and the casserole dish lid trying to get out. I will post a pic of how crowded the bowl is and ask advice...

There is not much room in the dish and I actually had to sneak my hand in and move his egg away from the side as it blocked him from opening his egg. He has pushed his egg into the water dish and is sitting on top of the other eggs. Will this damage them or make their hatch more difficult? Since this pic was taken Percy has knocked one egg so that its lid will be blocked by the temp sensor so I will need to move that one too.

And since the water dish is now completely gross with egg-leftovers, is it safe to leave in there?

Help!

You need to post your questions here.. https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/42/ducks folks there with experience at hatching ducks.

Do you have a warm brooder set up already? you may be able to move Percy into it. But go to Duck thread with Emergency on your thread.

and Congrats on the new lil one!!

I have in the past quickly removed chicks and ducklings from the incubator while others were still hatching, but you need to be quick, so you don't lose too much humidity and the temperature doesn't drop too much in there. I'd replace the water in the bowl with some clean. Good luck with the remainder of the hatch and keep the pics coming!
