Hello from Australia! I have eggs and not much idea what to do!

Thanks for that info. I am going shopping today and have just replaced spinach on my shopping list with kale instead.

Can I rip some grass/clover out of the garden for them? I don't have any dandelion growing in my yard.
grass needs to be chopped fine at their age. actually any green needs to be chopped fine to avoid their crop from getting impacted. be sure to pick up chick grit too.

Well, the novelty of these ducklings has not worn off at all. We are taking them out in the yard for a sun bath and a swim every afternoon and the LOVE it! They go straight for dandelion or flatweed seed heads and just demolish them. They have even caught a couple of flies that were flying past - in mid air. Clever little ducklings! Then when they come inside, they have a snuggle on their bear.

Oh my goodness how precious, they look very healthy, good job!

they are so cute, can you keep them or do you have to let them go when they are grown?

Hi Barnny,

I presume they will fly away by themselves once they are fledged. I need to make sure that I am showing them the right foods to eat so they will know what to do. I am concerned that I am going to do them a disservice by not handing them over to a wildlife shelter.

But today when they were hanging out in the yard my son and I put some slaters and slugs in a dish. It didn't take long for the ducklings to discover them. They had a ball flinging them all over the place!

Thanks Piglett.

Ironic that you answered me, I was going to post this morning that I no longer have cute little ducklings, but instead I have feathery little piglets! Man can these little guys eat!

They still don't love the kale, but are into the canned beans. they LOVE cottage cheese and this morning I chucked in a treat - shredded apple. They haven't eaten it yet, but I'm sure they will. They seem to have gone off the banana but are chomping their way through heaps of chick starter. I think I might stir a drop of vegemite in their water to make sure they are getting their Vitamin B. And they catch bugs mid-air whenever one flies down to their lamp. Super ducks!

And this morning I stepped in duck poo - on my kitchen floor...

They are so cute, amazing how fast they are growing. I believe that stepping in poo on your kitchen floor is one of the initiation rites into poultry ownership. Do those kind of ducks stay year round in your area or do they migrate?

Thanks Piglett.

I just got on this site after a long absence and started following your wonderful picture story about your hatchlings. Who would have thought ducklings would eat mashed bananas and spinach? Anyhow, best wishes with your babies, and please keep posting pictures. Oh, I almost forgot, greetings from Texas!
