Hello from Australia

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Wow, that is quite the ranch you have!! I LOVE living remotely, we do too. There is a true sense of living and peace when you have huge spaces between yourself, neighbors and town. :)

Hop up on the roost bar and enjoy all our chatting here on BYC!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

My grandparents raised chickens for eggs and meat when I was younger. I’ve always loved chooks so I now keep my own. I can spend hours with them each day in their coop!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

I’ve got no idea! I lost count a long time ago!

(3) What breeds do you have?

I currently have pekin bantams, Polish, silkies, Araucana, Belgian duccle and a few older Plymouth and RIR layers. I also have Indian Runners and Guinea Fowl. And.... I currently have Peahen eggs in the incubator (don’t tell hubby!) One day soon I’d also really love to get some geese

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

I love their little personalities ❤️ and the eggs are a bonus!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I love cooking and gardening and fishing

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I live on a remote Cattle station in outback Australia. We have 5000 cows, 3 Guinea Fowl, 5 ducks, I have no idea how many chooks, 3 cattle dogs, 1 Jack Russell and 1 super special 3 legged Blue Heeler And hopefully soon Peacocks!

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I found BYC on the internet while searching for incubator information. BYC has been a godsend!

WELCOME TO BYC.
