Hello from central PA!

Hello, Katie, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Your Polish could be playing you for sure. You can also work on training her to use the ramp by putting a trail of meal worms on it. That is how I trained mine. Of course there would be nothing to stop the others from sabotaging your training sessions.

Hi there! I'm Katie and I'm relatively new to chicken ownership. I have a flock of 11 chicks (7 weeks old today!) Mixed breeds: (2)olive eggers, (3) cream legbars, golden laced cochin, cochin cross, black Marans, black sex-link, red sex-link, and a golden laced polish(she's my favorite!). I named them all after some of my favorite songs (Mary Jane, Caroline, Jenny, Jolene, Rita, Georgia, Maggie May, Jessie, Valerie, Lucy and Cecilia) I've waited for years to finally be able to have chickens. We finished our dream home on some acreage outside of the city limits last spring, so this year was FINALLY the time! My husband and I have three kiddos (9,7, almost 5). I am a financial advisor and I also own a custom decorated cookie business out of my home. I am not allowed to have pets in my house (PA Dept of Ag regulation for my cookie business) so sadly Cecilia will never be a house chicken as much as I would love her to be ;) My current struggle is trying to get my silly little Polish to go into the coop at night with her sisters. She's scared to use the ramp so I end up shuffling her up every night. She very well could be playing me and just wants to say goodnight and get airlifted like a princess onto the roost
Welcome aboard.

I tried this afternoon with some watermelon since my ladies aren’t huge fans of mealworms yet. Cece wasn’t interested unless it was on the ground Going to try adding some rails to the side to see if that helps!

Hahaha! I’m in southeastern pa..
about to build an ark!
