Hello there, wonderful feather folks~

My name is Ashley and just moved to Long Beach, Mississippi this week. After raising and caring for reptiles of all kinds, rats and canines, I have decided to expand my horizon and try birds! I am giving my go with peafowl. I have acquired a nice bit of land and got my incubator already and expect three white/silver pied white eyed peafowl eggs tomorrow. I surely hope they make it through their postal travels alright..

It would be awesome for an expert to share some of your knowledge with me. c: Any tips?

! Pleased you joined our community! Good luck on your hatching. Don't want to be a downer but the hatch success rate for shipped eggs isn't the greatest. Below are a couple of links you might find useful. Good luck to you!

Here's the incubating and hatching link - LOTS of knowledge with the folks there:

And here the peafowl thread:

And here is a great informative article on hatching:

And a great one on peafowl:

Thanks for all the links redsoxs! Very much appreciated~ And that is very understandable. I will just have to wait and see what happens! I surely hope to have a good-news update with the eggs!

Hi Foxystag, I am moving to Long Beach in 2 weeks. My husband and I retired to Long Beach after he got out of the Navy in 2009 and we own a home there down by the coast. I moved to Crestview, florida back in November to be with my husband after he got a job here, but have decided to go back home, just waiting for the kids to get out of school. We really dont' like it here much and cant' wait to get back!

I can't help with Pea fowl, all I have are chickens right now. I'm thinking about getting some quail next spring though. Sorry to hijack your thread, it's rare to find someone who knows where Long Beach, MS is let alone find a neighbor, and I wanted to say hi. PM me if you'd like to chat.

I will not lie, this got me pretty excited! It will be nice knowing someone here in Long Beach, MS with chickens and quail! I will surely shoot you a PM. :)
BTW, cute poodle! Is that a Standard Poodle? Before I moved to Long Beach, MS, I was living at my boyfriend mother's house in Woolmarket and she has a silver standard poodle. c: Great dogs.
