Big hello to everyone! First time member long time reader, lol! I've found so much helpful info on this site over the years, I'm excited to be a member and for the chance to share with others who enjoy birds as much as I do! I've got a little place in the middle of cornfields and woods in west central Indiana and I've been raising chickens for about 13 years. I currently have 15 chickens, eleven ducks, a miniature pig, a goat, eight bunnies,7 cats, 3 dogs, and a funny little parakeet that talks constantly, lol. There's never a dull moment around here and I enjoy it immensely. Im also a mother to 2 wonderful girls and i feel blessed that they've gotten to grow up out here in the country. Besides my family and my animals I really enjoy gardening. I love to create art too, growing gourds for painting and carving, painting old windows and barn wood into signs and wall art, and crochet are a few examples. So that's a bit about me and I want to say I look forward to being a part of this community and to continued learning from so many knowledgeable people! Thanks!

Welcome to BYC- isn't it a helpful place? So glad to have you. I highly recommend the sister site BackyardHerds.com as well- especially having your pig, goat, and bunnies. TheEadyGarden.com is great if you have a garden or want to know about canning, plants, recipes- you name it. I think folks there would love to see your work with gourd art. SufficientSelf.com is another of the sister sites that you can find tips about self sufficiency projects, or share your own ideas.

For all your poultry needs, BYC is huge and full of people that can offer their own experiences. I've saved a few chickens by asking and looking here. Welcome, again!

Hello and welcome to BYC. I hope that you enjoy your time here.

This is a useful link of “How to” BYC guides to take a look at announcements-feedback-issues-guides.3. I’d suggest including your location using the guide in the link above. You can use this link to contact members in your area - Find your State's thread.

Best wishes

Thank you for the recommendations! Those all sound right up my alley! We're in such a rural area that there aren't many neighbors to talk with, it's wonderful to find so many people with like interests to gab with! :wee
