Hello from North Georgia!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.

It doesn't. But what it does do is reassure him that you aren't intimidated by him, aren't a threat and won't hurt him. I suggest you offer the head cockerel all the treats and food so he can 'give' it to the hens.
You will find that the boys will become more aggressive in the spring when the hormones start raging. If they have red flush on their legs, look out.
You may also come out one day to bloody injured boys if the submissive cockerel decides he's had enough of that position and makes a move to take the flock.
I actually rehome my GLW Rooster to a Breeder that works soley with GLW, he was in need if a new rooster for his flock! So now I just have the Jersey Giant Roo, I feel crazy because it's only been a few days but I feel like my JG rooster has mellowed out even more. I spend everyday I can in the run or outside when we free range with the current 5 I had, and since the beginning I've tired to offer everything to my JG rooster first because I did a lot of research into flock dynamics to prepare myself.
Now we just have to wait for my 30 day quarantine to be over and I can work on introducing the six new hens I got to the rest of my flock! (I Wound up being given a Lavender Orphington, three Isa Browns, and two penedesenca that will be a year in April! And I also got my very first egg yesterday from my largest SLW named lily! )
