Hello and :welcome

Glad to have you on board! I am from the UK, and have been to London a few times. :D
At 10 weeks, your chicks are fine to go outside without a heat light. You might also be surprised at how much they actually enjoy the rain. o-o Even with the option of shelter, my flock will sometimes stand outside in the downpour and just get drenched. Brings out the worms.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have, and enjoy the site. :D

oh wow thanks thats so helpful! i was really scared about them getting wet! thought it might kill them! lol im clearly no expert! but that yours actually stand out in the rain by choice makes me feel much better.
i was in a bit of a state this morning when i took the chickens out to their run (they have been sleeping in my house) to find my plastic sheeting had sprung quite a few leeks! about 8! and i had actual puddles in the run, i rang my husband and said i was going to bring them back in the house but he convinced me to leave them out there. it worried me that they didnt just go inside the coop to get away from the drips but now i realise they may actually like it! it seems where i draged the tarp over the run it has caught on the mesh and caused lots of tiny holes! dont know what im going to do about that, gaffa tape maybe? i've been up on a ladder pushing the water off with a broom! dont think the extemely hard hail we had yesterday helped! its stopped raining for now but this is England so prob only got a couple of hours til next downpoor!
What do you guys use as bedding inside the coop? i have wood chip and lots of shreeded paper as i was told hay will cause mites, is that true?

Wood chip is good to use as bedding, I'm not so sure about mites but I know that a lot of my chicken-owning friends have used hay without incident. I think it's all about keeping it clean.
As for us, our coop doesn't actually have a wooden floor or anything, so it's just ground/dirt in there, a few plants and also grass clippings to bring the smell down a bit. :p

Anyway, yes good memories of hailstorms in England, it only hails about once a year here. :gig

I wouldn't mind but three weeks ago they gave us a hose pipe ban because of draught! As if god were listening, it hasn't stopped raining since! I think he thought you want rain? I'll give you rain! And some hail for good measure! Lol

yeah im starting to think why we got a hose pipe ban too

although aparently your alowed to use jet wash machines as they reduce water useage by 80%

i bet UK resoviours are full to the brim right now with the amount of rain we have had
