Hello my name is Lulu I live north of Knoxville. I am 26 and started keeping chickens a month ago. I remember being little (4-8) and living on my daddy's chicken farm. I love our chickens that we had and especially my rooster. I still love chickens and right now I have 1 rooster. He was given to me. I joined this site to learn new things and ask questions. I'm full of questions. But thank you for letting me join!!

Welcome Lulu :) im down the road near Cookeville tn. I'm fairly new to chickens myself. I started with a White Leghorn flock. they are now 8 months old. wonderful Birds but not very good for free range( more like sit in the coop eat some chicken pellets out of a bowl kinda gals) im working on raising a new flock that are more apt to free range road island reds, barred rock and golden buff. what kind of rooster do you have?
 
He is a mix. He was a gift from my boyfriends uncle. I am trying to find a breed that would do good here. I like the free range which is what he is. But we are building a special chicken coop/ house for the new batch I plan on getting. Thinking americanas (sp), wanted silkies and frizzles but I heard they were not the smartest bunch. Still unsure right now as to what I'm going to get.
