Good luck getting your chickies. I am sure he will give in. My husband has become so tolerant of all my creatures. I, personally, love the smell of my chickens (NO, not their poop). I could spend all day with my face snuggled in their beautiful, sweet smelling, feathers.

As long as they are clean they don't stink.

Can't remember where Tuscon is.....but I lived in Mesa for awhile while I was getting my degree in HVAC . I loved Sedona , But it's too hot for a girl like me growing up in Montana . I broke my jaw down in Apache Juntion at Frank and Tammy Kellies' place when I was riding bulls though . He's 1 time world champion bullrider and she's a 5 time world champion womens bullrider . Love the area.....just not the heat ! To each is his own though . Sounds like your hubby is giving in .... shouldn't be too much longer till you have them !

I love your tortoise. When we were kids, we all had them as pets. They would adopt us, we wouldn't adopt them. They would just show up in the yard. They loved our greenery. We would plant nasturstiums for them. They loved apple slices and lettuce. I guess it beat living in the desert.

My DH brought home our first chicken who was near laying age at the time and living unprotected in a park where he walks most days. It took a lot of reasoning to get a pen built so a hawk couldn't carry her away. He thought I had flipped when I ordered a couple or more chickens and got a freebie thrown in to boot! He got really nervous and disagreeable when I brought home two grown Buff Orpingtons, but he had said "no chicks in the house" so I had to get grown birds the way I saw it! These days he is rather resigned. I think he thinks if he doesn't say anything, I might not get anymore chickens. Of course, I prefer to see his silence as compliance! I love him very much, and he takes very good care of me. It would be nice if he had the time to enjoy them as much as I do. I never ask him to clean up the coop/run or feed and water the chickens. It just takes some loved ones a while to adjust to the idea of owning them. I'm glad he likes to eat eggs!

Hello! I hope you get your chickens soon - I had to wear down my husband too, but now we have 7 little 3-week old chicks, and he loves them almost as much as I do!

I lived in Gilbert, AZ for 10 years, before moving back "home" here to TN. I miss AZ terrible -my husband and I will retire there someday. All of hubbies family is in Scottsdale though, so I get to visit AZ at least once a year.
Sedona is just about my favorite place in the world though. I've spent many many hours of my life on amazing hikes there. We honeymooned there too.

I have a very nice chain link fence that divides the yard. He has never been allowed outside unless someone is out with him, he is a house dog. In fact, if I do try to go in the house and leave him in the yard for a minute to get the phone etc., he stands and the door and barks at me! Saying "Hey, Daddy says I am not allowed out by myself!"

It will be a while before I can get any chickens. We have to replace our waterheater, Heater and Air Conditioner, and our backyard fence.... that will be quite expensive but it all has to be done this summer!!

So for now I can go to the feed store and look at chickens.

I lived in Tucson for 21 years...I lived right near mission rd, in front of the mountains. Sorry, but after that long, I don't miss it now...I am loving Florida! Have fun with the heat
