We could have a BC chicken club (not the sandwich)! I adore my Australorp. She's 4 months old and not laying yet, but she is such a ham, smart, and full of personality. I had a cuckoo Marans for a short time until he started crowing, but also adored him to that point. All of the redwood and madrone litter that collects on your roof, deck, and property makes great free run substrate, and they scratch it down into mulch. I just sweep it up into a large trash can, and dump it in a pile in the run. They spread it out in under an hour.

Ooooh, there are TONS of that tree litter I could use! Heheheheheh. Redwood, bay laurel, pine and oak. Gobs of it. No madrone right here...
