A quick intro, I'm from Louisiana, and new to raising chickens, I have a year old blue and golden marans who was given to me, 1 black marans chick, and 3 little bantam chicks. I tried to move my black marans, (she's nearly 2 months old) out to the coop today. But my roo pecked all the feathers in one little area out, and it's a bloody wound. What a jerk.

Poor thing she is much too young to be stuck out there with a randy rooster.

Yeah, I learned from that mistake

You might want to pick up a few more hens for your rooster. One roo can handle 10 hens easily and that will help keep him from over-breeding and stressing out too few girls.
