View attachment 1727113 What makes you think you might have some cockerels? If you got them from a hatchery or feed store they should be 90% accurate. Maybe you could post some pics to get more opinions, but they are probably too young to tell for sure anyway. Early comb and wattle development isn't always that reliable, and male feathers won't start growing in until about 12 weeks.
Good luck in your new chicken adventure! View attachment 1727115

I have 2 that are more aggressive and seem protective of the rest of them. When I tried to help me sick chick, they jumped in front of her and started to peck me! Of course I am very new at this so I am am not sure what to think.
Here's a picture of one

Behavior isn't really an indicator in chicks, They all have different personalities. Cockerels are actually usually the calmest and friendliest as chicks, and aggressive or protective behavior doesn't start happening until after they start crowing or mating, 5-8 months or more. Even pullets will chest bump and juveniles of both genders act all crazy when their hormones start kicking in.

Pecking is a normal behavior, I'm pretty sure they're just curious. I don't know how old your chicks are, but it looks like they're just starting to get feathers and they're probably just testing their wings and bravery and other abilities. They get pretty rambunctious at a couple weeks old and start flying everywhere too.

If you're still concerned about your other sick chick, you could start a new thread and post some pics of her on this other forum:

Have fun with your flock, no need to worry about gender just yet!
