Hello I'm new

I’m using the course flake from Tractor Supply as well and love it! Keets are 7 wks. I started with pine flakes but keets at 5 days old were eating it so I switched. Last week I threw the flakes in brooder to try to use my cube up but wow was that dusty! This week I’m back to TS course flake and the keet coop can not be built fast enough. Stinky things!!
I was in a hurry to get my run and coop done as well. Keets were 12 weeks and still in my shop, along with two pullets in a separate cage, and two new puppies. What a stinking mess. Now they are out and we are all the happier for it. I'm still using the flake with the keets, but I haven't noticed them eating it. Crops seem fine. I put in a piece of sod so they could pick through it for grit. They like picking through the sod and are quite chipper. I wish you speed and luck on your coop build. I half killed myself getting mine done, and still had to add mesh to the floor of the run yesterday because of a snake that has made the run his underground home for a long time. I am adding sand to the run later today and I'll post a pic.

Will be getting two more Guineas, meanwhile a question. Should I let the baby guineas feed all day or should I take their feed box out every couple of hours? Let me know as I am unable to find post on babies and their eating. The feed store gave me a high quality protein baby food for them. Thus far I have cleaned their indoor cage 6 times today. Maybe letting them have their feed available is a bad idea? Please let me know

I left food and water available at all times when mine were keets. They do poop a lot which is good for my garden!! =D

Thank you to everyone. My Gunieas are now 24 weeks old and 19 weeks old. My pullet s are 14 weeks old. The Gunieas love me and the head Guniea MAX follows me everywhere. The chickens Don t care for me and I don't know why???? I have to put them in their coop if I want to go somewhere otherwise they follow the car. I feel foolish because some times I try to fool them and sneak out to the car and road away before the notice. So what am I doing wrong with my Astrolourps? They run from me! Any help appreciated. Also the chickens are dusting themselves as are the Gunieas in the wood ash from the wood stove why are the doing that, I have provided them a wonderful dirt bath in the garden? Thanks for all your help.

Welcome fellow Georgian!! This is a great resource for guinea info. Glad you found us.
I live in about 10 miles north east of Ellijay Ga. Not to far from Tennessee or North Carolina boarders up in the mountains - remote. How many feathered kids do you have
