Hello again. I see I did not ,,state in my previous post that we have six chickens, two Buffs and four White Leghorns. I am confused about how to post and it's probably not the place for this. I apologize for not following protocol but I am starting to be concerned that I have a real issue here. I have been feeding fermented seed to our chickens for a month now. Egg laying dropped of a little at a time, then came to a cackling vault. I think it has been at least two weeks without eggs. We have six chickens and two different breeds. I am wondering if they are sick. They look good. They are feisty from eating fermented. They jump me every time I show up so they don't appear sick other than not laying. I do have a few who's combs are not dark red but have a washed out look. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
I don't know why they slowed down. I don't think it could be fermented feed unless it dropped the protein percentage way down. The cold dropped a lot of People's egg count. There is a forum about egg laying issues, or another popular thread that has quite a few chicken experts called "how many eggs did you get today. " Just use the magnifying glass above to the right and type in those words to get you there. How old are chickens ? and what " seed " are you feeding (do they have access to dry food ) as well as fermented seed? Hope that helpsHello again. If you are only feeding fermented seed, they are malnourished and incapable of producing eggs.Hello again.
