Hello everyone. My husband and I are new to having chickens. We could really use some advice right now. We've had our chicken for a few months now. Everything has been going really good even though we've never had chickens before. Unfortunately, the other night she was attacked by a cat, because the vacant property next door is full of them. I seen it just in time and ran outside to rescue her. The cat let go of her and she ran into the house. She was obviously scared and traumatized. Well, here's my problem, she hasn't eaten since then. I saw her drink some water today, but still hasn't really eaten anything. Is there anything I can do to get her to start eating again? She has become like the family pet and we really don't want to lose her.

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

I am so sorry about your bird being attacked by a cat! :hugs I am going to move this over to our Emergency section. Sounds like she may have internal damage or possible infection.

Good luck, I hope you can get her healed up soon! :hugs

I can't say for sure how old she is. She was one of several chickens that walked around the neighborhood where I live. All have disappeared but her. We looked her over and didnt notice any puncture wounds, etc. I did try to feed her her favorite this morning, which is corn. That didnt work. But I will definitely try some tuna. Thank you.

corn is like table sugar to birds, and if she does have some injuries protein will help her heal
