Thank you for the welcoming words. It's now the 17th day of incubating and my first baby hatched at 135pm today. First and only baby - should I be concerned about the other 10 eggs? Also can you please look at what I believed is a pipped egg? it's been like that all day - should I do anything? I do have a little experience with Quail eggs.
Here is a picture of the 1st hatched. I'm in love - when's the earliest that I can safely remove the chick from incubator to brooder - I would like to start asap trying to imprint on it.
Thank you in advance for all of your insightful advice. I wish one of you lived close to me so I could just have you come over and help. LOL
6PM update: 2nd chick hatched. For 30 minutes the two chicks moved and started pecking at egg #11 - the one I believed started pipping but stopped (pic posted).
Congratulations!
Adice given to me was this:
If you can leave them in the incubator, do so. Opening the lid, to take them out, will cause the humidity to drop. It may cause the others to "shrink wrap". If you absolutely have to open the incubator, spray the sides with warm water, to keep the humidity up.
Good luck.
