I have just purchased a coop and am anxiously waiting for it to arrive. I live in the high desert of Northern Nevada. I have many properties around me with chickens, even though we have nights in the high teens, low twenties.
So, I haven't even been able to buy my little flock yet, but will do so as soon as Tractor Supply, or Big R get them in stock.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
purchased a coop
Does this coop that you purchased offer 4 sq ft of floor space per bird not including the nest boxes? Will you build a large attached predator-proof run for them that provides at least an additional 15 sq ft of space per bird? That's what they're going to need. They also need as close to 1 sq ft of permanently open ventilation per bird in the coop to prevent moisture buildup and frostbite during cold weather.

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

Congrats on you’re becoming a chicken tender!

We all worry about store bought coops because they usually never hold the number of chickens they say. It’s closer to half or less. If you need help reinforcing it, building a run or addition, let us know as we have forums you can post in to get great advice!
