Hi everyone,
My wife and I have a dozen chickens (4 wyandotte, 4 barred rocks, & 4 brahma). We live in Michigan, on 10 acres, roughly 20 miles south of Flint.
We have 4 kids (who we home-school), we are huge gardeners, and I love to hunt and fish in my spare time. We are blessed that my wife stays home with out children; I work in healthcare.
Without a doubt, my favorite part about having chickens is feeling connected to the food we eat and knowing what is (and is not) being fed to the animals that lay the eggs my family eats. Teaching our children responsibility and care of animals from an early age is also rewarding for us.
I've lurked on BYC for ages, but just finally realized I should introduce myself.
Nice to meet everyone!
