I sure hope I’m doing this right. I clicked on the introduce yourself thing but I’m not very computer savvy lol.
Anyway, I am 4’10” and my last name is Fox, hence LilFox. I love and adore animals. My family has always called me the beast master. I have always wanted chickens! It wasn’t until I got my 3 German Shepherds that I decided I NEEDED chickens lol.
I’m one of those organic weirdos. I like to know where my food comes from and know exactly what I’m putting in my body. It’s the same for my animals. I make my own dog food and my dogs get 6 raw eggs a day. Enter my idea of a flock.
I was pretty dumb when I got them. I naively walked into my local hillbilly store and said,”I would like two of every bird”. Except for the silkies. I asked for 4. I love them! They’re like little muppets without arms! Anyway, also I got 8 ducks. I know... this is why I call you my new BFF’s! Clearly I didn’t know what I was doing.
So here I am. I have 30 chickens, 8 ducks, 3 dogs, 1 Savannah, a very patient husband, and a partridge in a pair tree.
As I’m sure you know, I have quite a few roosters and drakes. This is something I will be dealing with as they make themselves known. They are about 3 months old now. I have one rooster who I named Boss. He is the perfect Roo to have. Crows when he’s supposed to and keeps even the ducks in line. I have two red roosters that need to go first. I was sad about this at first but one keeps coming at me and the other is food obsessed and HUGE and won’t let anyone near the food. I’m in the process of building a 40 foot run so I think before the move my two red ones will need to go.
Okay. Sorry I wrote a book. I’ve been coming here a lot since I got my birds and have really enjoyed reading and learning so much!
