Hi everyone-I’ve been using your advice for coop designs, hatching chicks, and now raising babies - so I figured I should stop lurking and just join already. I am brand new to this. I have two 3 day old Mille fleur chicks (out of a batch of 8 bought on eBay). Thank goodness 2 hatched, but now one has pasty butt, and I feel bad for the chick - they vocalize every time they poo (so roughly every 5 mins or so?) - bc it hurts I’m sure. I think the brooder was too warm, so I moved them to a much bigger box and put temperature gauges both near to, and far from, the heat source. We have been cleaning her butt every 5hours or so. They are eating and drinking just fine it seems. I am wondering how long pasty butt takes to clear up, and if its ok to take them outside since the weather today is glorious. I will take any advice anyone cares to give! (On pasty butt or any other topic).
