Hi I'm new to BYC. I live in Australia and have just recently become a coop owner. I have 1x Sizzle Cochin (Mavis) 2x Frizzle Cochins (Doris & Gladys) (same flock approx & 7 mths old) 1x 10 week old White Silkie (Pearl) and a 4 month old Silver Silkie (Phylis) I love and spoil them and can not believe I haven't free ranged chickens longer. My 3 'curly girls' give us about 12-16 egg per week which is lovely. My 2 little Silkies huddle together in their own area of the coop sectioned off from the attacks from #1 & 2 in the mini frizzle flock. I want them to be accepted but even when I shut the other 3 in to let them have their own free range time, they linger at the door and appear too nervous to venture out even if I sit with them. My Sizzle has gone a little broody and is the least interested in the new Silkies (hasn't chased and pecked at them yet) should I put her in the Silkie coop to break up the hierarchy?

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I don't see any reason not to put your Sizzle Cochin in with the Silkies, particularly if she isn't hostile toward them. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Welcome to BYC! I'm glad you joined us! :)
BantamFan4Life; I just saw that you have become the all time leader on BYC for the greatest number of lifetime posts. That's quite an achievement; especially considering that you're given out lots of good information and advice in those posts. Congratulations, and keep up the good work. You're a real credit to BYC. :o)

NickyKnack I love the picture of your Silkie and it is so nice to be welcomed to the site by everyone especially all the way from America and even one from Kenya!

Thank you I think i'll try to put broody Sizzle in with my 2 shy young Silkies while she seems to be tolerant of them maybe they will bond and the other two won't be as game to peck and rush at 'a new flock' in the yard? Thank you for your welcome advice.
