I got my first ever chicks a few weeks ago and there are no other chicken keepers in our part of town so I decided to join backyard chickens! I have 7 chicks right now. 1 BCW (7 weeks) 2 silver laced wyandotes (6 weeks) 2 ameracaunas (5 weeks) and 2 buff orpingtons (5 weeks) (whew!)
I enjoy reading, especially about chickens! It's also how I found out about backyard chickens! I also have a cat and a dog who I love very much. My cat is not interested in the chicks, but my dog is, which can sometimes be a problem. I'm looking forward to talking chicken!

I have two silver cuckoo maran pullets they are very pretty although mine don't seem to like me.

Sometimes dogs and chickens just don't mix, but I know first hand that with a lot of training they can live happily together.

I think so! I'ts kind of wierd, last week she looked exactly like the hens I saw, I feel like I change my mind every 2 weeks!

Haha I had a similar situation with one of my younger silkies. I was told for two months and I agreed that she was a he but she's actually a she.

When your chicks are 6-8 weeks old, you can post photos of them at "what breed or gender is this," and they will sort them out for you. I also think that is a cockerel
