Hi Everyone!

I've *read* Backyard Chickens regularly for the past year that I've had chickens of my own, but finally made an account. We have a white silkie bantam rooster, and our laying gals are a buff ameraucana, blue laced barnevelder, black olive egger, barred rock, and silver laced wyandotte. Then we have a handful of new birds in the brooder... a black cochin bantam, black copper marans, lavender orpington, favaucana, and a splash mystery breed.

We also have three dogs, three cats, and a potbelly pig who all live inside. And I have three sons (6 years old, 4 years old, and 2 years old) and I'm due with a girl in May!

I look forward to actually being able to post!

Glad you're here !

A must have for your poultry is a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/suggestions-for-a-first-aid-kit.1150128/)
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. (https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...-there-and-cut-more-holes-in-your-coop.47774/) Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it!

One last thing, if you're into gardening, feel free to join this years SEED SWAP (https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/seed-swap.1220129/)
